I was happily making furniture in Western Massachusetts 25 years ago when I went off the deep end for wine, my creative juices overflowing to the point where I knew a career change was inevitable.
By ‘90 I had an old school bus packed up and headed west, landing at Ravenswood Winery, where I’ve worked ever since, first in Winemaking and more recently as GM.
The wines of the south of France were my true love when I first got interested in the red stuff, and it ultimately became my life’s mission to capture the laughably delicious aspect of these Grenache based wines here in California.
It took me a while but I finally scraped enough money together by ‘97 to buy a beautiful hillside vineyard parcel above the town of Sonoma, which I promptly cultivated and planted.
I began producing my Grenache in 2004 in limited production. The 2013 vintage is currently in the barrel. But for a quick look at what's in the works, take a look at a blend I'm working on:
