2025 Rosé de Grenache by the bottle
NEW RELEASE! Delicious and superbly versatile as a food pairing wine, the ’25 vintage is possibly the best in a string of well-received Mathis Rosés—it's just won Gold at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition! This refreshingly lively wine shows aromas of orange blossom and characters of lovely stone fruit on the palate. As with my past rosés, the mouthfeel is silky and compellingly satisfying; you’ll wonder how the bottle emptied so quickly!
WINEMAKING NOTES
Well-timed winter rainfall replenished the soil moisture, and the Mathis Vineyard entered spring with good vigor and health. Seasonably warm daytime highs were coupled with excellent nighttime cooling to the low 50s – perfect for growth. Picking took place on the 18th of September after a brief hot spell at the end of August, with the fruit in perfect condition.
We harvested the Grenache for the Rosé pre-dawn to ensure low temperature (the cooler fruit temperatures assist in limiting both color and tannin extraction when pressing). The fruit went direct to press without any crushing or maceration of the skins. The resultant pale colored juice was fermented with naturally occurring yeasts for 24 days at 15°C, then racked clean and aged for two months in a stainless steel tank prior to bottling.
FOOD PAIRING
The 2025 Rosé de Grenache pairs well with a very wide range of foods, and exceptionally with lighter summer fare, grilled seafood, vegetables, and chicken. And no wine is better for enhancing highly spiced dishes due to its fresh acidity and supple, soft texture. It’s showing beautifully on release and is ready for your dinner table or as a casual glass of wine with friends.

VINEYARD DESCRIPTION
Mathis Vineyard covers a 7.5 acre plot, situated in the hills above the town of Sonoma, on a warm, south-facing slope. The soils are volcanic in origin, low vigor, with underlying rhyolitic rock. The nearby San Francisco Bay, visible from the vineyard, provides a cooling influence and allows for extended hang time at harvest.
